I want to extend a huge thank you to Lydia for drawing one of my photos for me. Please go follow her to see more of her art. 🙂
I almost didn’t take pictures this week but Shaina volunteered to take some on her iPhone and I’m in love! I’m wearing a half sari and swapped out the original sari blouse for a gold one. My hair is definitely frizzy, but hey- that’s life.
I hope you’re having a restful and productive Sunday!
My mother came back from India after being away from 2 months and she brought back with her some beautiful pieces of clothing. This salwar top was stitched for me because my sister has one that she wears in white. While my mom was in India she got me one in creme and black.
This week’s Sari Sunday is neither a Sari or something I wore on Sunday. Opps. Haha I wore this dress for a bridal shower yesterday and paired it with henna stickers on my hand. I got the stickers from a trip a few years ago to India. It started to come off but still looked pretty good all day. I love this dress! I wish I had more with a similar design. It was purchased at Marshalls.
I had a moment today that sorta put things into perspective for me. I felt silly posting fashion pictures thinking of the grand scale of things.
My dad got into a biking accident and he’s okay but he so easily got hurt in one second more than he ever was in his entire life. I saw how fragile the man who raised me was and reminded me to never forget that every day is a gift. I could have not existed or my life could have been cut short at any time. But, I’m alive.
So in this picture I am very fragile as we are all very fragile. But I realize that because I believe in an eternity, being fragile isn’t so scary. I have no reason to be afraid. (Although I will be cautious!)
I’m bringing back the Sari in #SariSunday! I wore this sari with a blouse that has a longer sleeve and it honestly made me feel like I was dressing up for someone’s wedding. The blouse doesn’t even go with this Sari! The colors somehow worked and I was in luck. I decided to just pin my hair back because the Sari felt so extravagant.
That’s all for now, I hope you’re enjoying your day. 🙂
Today I wore a simple blue, white and silver salwar and used silver as the overarching connecting color. I painted my nails a metallic color and wore metallic flats. I watched Hase Toh Phasse and the main female lead pins her hair back as I’ve done in this outfit. I actually got a lot of compliments on this simple hairstyle. A picture from the movie is above. That’s all for today, I hope you had a great weekend! 🙂
This Sunday I chose to wear a yellow salwar to match with my new heels from Banana Republic. I got them from a website called ThredUp but they were honestly really overpriced for something second hand so I probably won’t buy something again from this retailer.
I got my nails done in a simple color. I think it helped keep this outfit simple and casual. I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday. 🙂
I woke up today feeling super tired, I wanted a simple outfit that I could put on quickly. I know we all have those days when we just feel exhausted but don’t want to look exhausted.
After I showered my hair was really curly and beginning to frizz. I remedied this problem by adding Kukui oil (pictured above). I didn’t use Dheedhi oil but I took a picture of the bottle because I highly recommend leaving oil in your hair. If you have problems with frizz you just leave some of this oil in your hair for 10 minutes before you bathe and your hair should be silkier.
After adding Kukui oil I did a fishtail braid to the side and was really happy with how the braid came out. This salwar was also easy enough to wear but the pants would go down. It’s the tiny parts of an outfit that make you either love it or hate it and the discomfort of pulling my pants up was enough to make me feel really annoyed by this salwar.
Despite the annoyance of the pants, I love the design of this outfit! I was able to pair it with my black Lands end heels, creating a sophisticated look (in my opinion).
That’s all for this week, I hope you’re enjoying your Forth of July weekend!
Fun Fact: I took all of these pictures, mostly with a tripod! It was an interesting experience…
