Day 15: Bible Verse

Jeremiah 29:11

New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

This single bible verse has been coming into my life time and time again, its almost like I can’t escape it!  But this verse inspires me in so many ways.  So many times I’m left feeling out of control of everything around me.  I think this verse constantly speaks into my life when I find myself wanting to take control over the situations around me.

The thing is, we can’t always be in control, never really.  And this can feel really scary to accept, but to know Jesus is in control is so comforting because he knows exactly what we need and has a plan and a purpose for everything.

Whenever I find myself feeling upset, I think of my father holding me and shielding me.  I never actually need to be afraid of anything.  Being afraid is like me lugging a large umbrella when I’m praying for sunshine all day.  God’s in control, never forget that.

  1. When I saw this verse, I truly got goosebumps. It’s been coming up in my life, too, lately, and I know God is trying to tell me things about His plans for my family and me. My son (age 7) had this verse in his bedtime devotional, and I asked him how he felt about God having plans for him even before he was born…he very honestly said good, but also bad: what if he didn’t like the plans God had for him? What if he wanted to do something else? I love the profound thoughts my kids get me to think about, by the way. I asked him, in his seven years, if he had seen good things in his life from God. When he replied yes, I asked why he wouldn’t expect God to keep having good things in store for him? I love seeing him learn to trust God with all of his life, to see His goodness, and to want what God wants for his life! I enjoy your posts! God bless your summer!

    1. Thank you so much! I love seeing the ways God works to use people, even those we least expect. Sometimes I feel like the wisest words come from my nine year old cousin. It’s so scary thinking that we lose control as humans. But when God is control, things will be so much more amazing than we can ever imagine. And there’s something so comforting in know that’s always the one in control. Nothing else can stand a chance.
