I’ve heard the message millions of times but never actually believed it. I know that sounds REALLY dumb, but I just didn’t believe it. That’s the problem with my lifestyle. I was lucky enough to be born into my faith and to be able to live in an environment that encourages my personal growth as a Christian. It never occurred to me how difficult life may be for a Christian living in a country that does not tolerate Christianity, or even a child wondering about Christ with parents who do not believe in him.
I never realized this until [I use the same transitions over and over again, any suggestions to help me break this habit!] I was looking online for things to help me learn more about Christ. I went on Youtube and looked for a youtube guro who could maybe give me insight into Christianity. Kind of like a makeup guro except they help me become closer to God. What I found was the opposite.
I typed into the search bar “pentecostal”, and the first guro like person I found was an atheist. I knew I should have exited and left the window but I clicked it instead and ended up learning a lot about the person and felt bad for her. She use to be a believer who was pentecostal, but she had lost her faith and now was posting videos about her de-conversion.
While watching her videos it occurred to me that maybe some non Christian out there was looking for someone to tell them about Jesus and the first person they could find was an atheist. I don’t care what the world has to say about it,being a Christian is hard.
As Christians we are held to a higher standard and must stand as an example for those around us. I remember doing a play a few years back, it was comical. My friend played evil and there was this one verse she said that struck me, I can barley remember it now but will edit this part when I find it. It’s funny because while looking for the verse online I clicked on a site and it read “An Atheist’s Favorite Bible Verses”. How could I be looking for bible verses and end up on a site about atheists?!
While sitting in church one afternoon I remember my pastor preaching about a child with atheists parents who without knowing anything about God, asked if there was a God. Life is a battlefield and I know that I’ve had it easy. It hurts me to think that someone could WANT to know more about God but simply be lead astray.
Today, if you are a Christian, I encourage you to reach out to those around you. Christian life is a battlefield and it is hard but to know the God is worth it. I just hope that the next time someone looks online to learn about God they can find him!
“For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.” (Deuteronomy 23:14)
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from me,” says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17)
“Through You we will push down our enemies; through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us. In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever.” (Psalm 44:5)
“It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on high places. He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze … I have pursued my enemies and overtaken them; neither did I turn back again till they were destroyed. I have wounded them, so that they were not able to rise; they have fallen under my feet. For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.” (Psalm 18:32,37)
See you tomorrow, [I ALWAYS forget how to spell tomorrow! ]
